An American influencer has stepped into the ring against a humanoid robot in what organisers described as the first human-versus-robot MMA fight, offering a glimpse of how combat sports could evolve as robotics technology advances, the Metro reported.
Frankie LaPenna faced a Rek Robotics โRekbotโ, a large humanoid machine whose appearance has drawn comparisons with the T-800 from The Terminator franchise.
โ We just made history with the first Human VS Terminator robot fight. Frankie LaPenna gave it his all,โ Rek Robotics said on X.
Footage showed the machine pumping its fists and apparently warming up before the bout, with glowing red eyes and a skull-like head attachment adding to its cinematic appearance.
LaPenna managed to land several attacks before the robot responded with a roundhouse kick that sent him to the floor.
The footage quickly prompted comparisons with The Terminator, with one viewer posting: โHumans are cooked.โ
