The US has given chip giant Nvidia the green light to sell its advanced H200 AI processors in China.

Nvidia has been, and continues to be, caught in a geopolitical tug-of-war between the US and China, the two leaders of a global AI race.

However, the greenlight from the US has boosted their importance in that race, reinforcing Nvidiaโ€™s dominance in high-end AI chips.

Bill Conner, President and CEO at Jitterbit, who discusses the AI arms race at length, and also the importance of accountability.

To lead in AI, the U.S. government must lead with principles. Responsible AI governance isnโ€™t a side note, itโ€™s the foundation of lasting global influence.

This isnโ€™t only a global AI arms race for processing power or chip dominance. Itโ€™s a test of trust, transparency, and interoperability at scale where AI, security and privacy are designed together to deliver accountability for governments, businesses and citizens.

Without clear accountability frameworks, exporting AI risks creating vulnerabilities, turning a strategic asset into a liability, particularly when adversarial actors are quick to exploit weaknesses or manipulate systems to their advantage.

In the rush to innovate, many leaders overlook geopolitical implications. The risks of misaligned incentives and covert data usage are no longer theoretical. The cost of short-term gains may be long-term exposure, both in data exfiltration and reputational fallout.โ€
