KartRider Rush+ is highest grossing mobile racing game with $169m in revenue

Racing games have been around since the early days of offline gaming and still remain popular in the modern world of online gaming. According to data presented by Safe Bettings Sites US, KartRider Rush+ is the highest-grossing mobile racing game globally – $169M revenue from player spend from April 2020 – March 2021.

KartRider Rush+ on Top of Podium Among Mobile Racing Games – $169M

The Racing game genre was actually one of the first popular genres of gaming and in 2021, it still retains a sizable fanbase. The genre also has a strong foothold in the lucrative mobile gaming space, with several racing games raking in millions of dollars in revenue. In the period from April 2020 – March 2021, Nexon’s KartRider Rush+ recorded the highest revenue among mobile racing games with $169M in player spending.

Tencent’s QQ Speed had the second-largest revenue from player spend with $146M. Zynga’s CSR Racing 2 was the only other racing game to also break the $100M mark with $122M worth of revenue while Nintendo’s Mario Kart Tour is closing in on the milestone at $93M worth of revenue in the same time period.

Racing Games A Popular And Lucrative Genre For EA

Electronic Arts (EA) is one of the biggest names in all of gaming, having developed classic franchises such as FIFA and The Sims just to name a few. Sports on all platforms is a particularly strong point for EA and has a strong presence in the mobile racing genre. In January 2021 EA’s Need for Speed: No Limits (NFS: NL) was the developer’s third most downloaded mobile game from the Google Play Store with more than 2M downloads.

The fourth most downloaded game on mobile for EA is also from the racing genre; Real Racing 3 with more than 1.6M downloads for the same period. In terms of revenue, NFS: NL was the developer’s most lucrative source for the month of January with almost $700K in revenue for the month while Real Racing 3 raked in more than $350K in revenue.

Rex Pascual, gaming editor at Safe Betting Sites US said, “ The Racing genre was one of the first to establish itself in the world of gaming due to the suitability of its basic game logic with the rudimentary technology that was available back in the day. Since then racing games have become legitimate simulations of real-life racing and have become a popular genre in professional eSports.”
