Nintendo has announced that they are to no longer sell their games in Russia through their online store.
The Japanese giant said the changes came into effect on Wednesday and in March 2022 Nintendo suspended shipments of their products to Russia after Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Nintendo said in a statement that Russians can still download previous content that has been purchased.
The statement said after the shipment suspension and “as a result of the economic outlook, Nintendo of Europe has decided to wind down operations of its Russian subsidiary.
“Payment information tied to Nintendo accounts, such as credit card or PayPal account details, has been deleted for security reasons.”
Russian will no longer be able to create new accounts and Nintendo’s e-shop is “under maintenance” in Russia as the payment provider stopped ruble transactions.
