AI chipmaker Nvidia has overtaken Apple and is now valued at $3 trillion and the record share saw Wall Street hit an all-time record high.

Microsoft is the world’s most valuable company that is listed on the stock exchange, Nvidia is now in second and Apple has fallen into third place.

On Wednesday the AI chipmaker’s share price rose to 5% to $1.224.40 a share.

Dan Coatsworth, investment analyst at AJ Bell, said this will “bring its share price down and make it more affordable to investors who cannot afford to splash out more than a grand per share, as well as to benefit employees who use some of their monthly pay packet to invest in the company.”
