Russia fines WhatsApp 3 million ruble for failing to remove ‘banned content’

WhatsApp has been fined 3ruble ($37,000) on Thursday by a Russian court after they failed to delete banned content.

Meta who is WhatsApp parent company was banned by Russia last year after being branded “extremist,” and at the same time Russian authorities also banned Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Russian news agencies reported that WhatsApp was fined after failing to remove group chat which was offering anti-depressants which is banned in Russia.
