Social media platform X has suffered a widespread outage, leaving thousands of users unable to access feeds, load posts or use key features of Elon Muskโs platform.
The disruption was reported across several countries, including the UK, US, France, Greece and Algeria, with users experiencing problems on both the website and mobile application.
Monitoring service Downdetector recorded more than 11,000 reports of issues by 2.54pm, highlighting the scale of the disruption.
Users reported difficulties loading timelines and accessing content, with many turning to other platforms to confirm that the service was experiencing problems.
โMore issues today, canโt load things on X,โ one user wrote, while another reported: โX having problems againโฆ home page not loadingโฆ errors.โ
The cause of the outage has not yet been confirmed by the company.
The disruption comes as X continues to undergo significant changes under Muskโs ownership, including major infrastructure changes, workforce reductions and a broader overhaul of the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Large-scale outages have become an increasingly sensitive issue for social media platforms, where reliability is central to user engagement, advertising revenue and real-time information sharing.
For X, the latest incident adds another challenge as the company attempts to compete in an increasingly crowded social media market while rebuilding trust among users and advertisers.
The platform has not yet provided an official explanation for the outage or confirmed when full service will resume.
